In this secular day and age, it's refreshing to read a book that actually documents the Christianity and faith of our first president. After reading this great book, I came away knowing that George Washington was indeed a man of prayer who loved the Lord God with all his heart and soul. So many times he was found on his knees in prayer. And he demanded that his soldiers attend church services. He condemned profanity as well as gambling, wanting his soldiers to be Christians.
This secular society likes to say that George Washington was a deist. After reading William Johnstone's book, there is no way you can come away with thinking for one second that he ever was anything but a God-fearing Christian.
If you want to get to know the real George Washington I can highly recommend William J. Johnstone's, "George Washington the Christian."

Very well researched. Very refreshing to read what a person of high character Washington was.

Some of the entries are repetitive but each is helpful in understanding what religion meant to George Washington
Very interesting to read his prayers & about his faith.
I never cease to be amazed at the quality of character and Providential leading possessed by the man who was the `Father` of this nation. Excellent book! Should be mandatory reading for every school history class.
This book was everything that I had hoped it would be. I was never a true fan of George Washington not until I had start finding his morning and evening prayers. I had always had said that a true way to know the kind of a man one is,take a good look at his prayer life and study him well. After focusing my reading on these prayers I have the deepest respect for this man of faith. To bad that as a youngter I never took the time to really try to know this man.
After you read Goerge Washinton's own words in this book you can draw your own conclusions about his Christian beliefs and his Christian life. My conclusion is that Washington's words and actions were very much guided by his religion which was founded upon the Scriptures. He used more than 54 Biblical names and titles for God in his writings.
George Washington's own words are a thing of beauty. Gives you a deep look into the Father of our country. It was all about God and country for Washington, something we and our kids will never learn unless we seek the TRUTH for ourselves by reading books like this!
It's wonderful to finally know the truth!
